Game Overview
Official Gameplay Trailer
In Nioh, players will traverse war-torn Japan as William, a blonde-haired swordsman whose background as a fierce warrior and seasoned knowledge of the blade allows him to survive in the demon-plagued land of the samurai. Known as Yokai, these demons inhabit a number of dangerous locations and lie in wait in the shadows to ambush unsuspecting victims. Players will also face off with other samurai in supernatural sword battles and intense, multi-target engagements offering a level of difficulty that will truly test even the most hardened samurai’s skills, patience, and strategy. Offering a deep and original storyline that takes place during the Warring States Period of Japanese history alongside strategic sword-fighting action, Nioh will challenge players in a way that makes every mission and accomplishment feel earned and worthwhile.
Mid Stance - Mid Stance is good for defense, and is easy to use, but attack power falls somewhere between High Stance and Low Stance. Getting behind your opponent from this stance is difficult, so facing off is your best bet since you’ll have the ability to react quickly to their every move. Low Stance - Low Stance is best for dodging. Its primary focus is evasive movement, allowing you to escape quickly, get behind your opponent and attack.
Online Co-Op Play
Defy Death, Together
Nioh’s combat requires a level of mastery to take on countless Yokai. To get there, you may want a little help from friends, or other visitors. Through your journey, you’ll be able to summon visitors to aid you and play cooperatively to tackle the toughest demons. While the Summoner gets help from the extra player, the visitor also receives rewards when arriving at shrines, or even after engaging a boss (winning or losing). In addition, the helping visitor gets more rewards post-mission, and the Summoner can continue their quest.
Stance System
Fight to Win
To truly master Nioh’s combat, the Stance system is a crucial technique to maintain an advantage over the enemy. Analyze enemy attacks and change your stances on the fly to survive the brutal and mystical landscape.
High Stance - High Stance emphasizes attack power and aggression. It provides more Attack and Break power than any other stance, but dodging and blocking, are relatively limited.
